The Young Inventors Challenge 2026 aims to encourage secondary school students aged 13 – 17 to cooperate as a team (2-5 students) to find innovative solutions to current day problems. YIC is an educational project focusing on the participants learning.
This is our 14th year. YIC 2026 will be conducted fully Online. The participation is totally FREE!
YIC participants would develop creative, critical and problem identification/solving skills. YIC hopes to develop future inventors/innovators who will be the positive change makers of tomorrow.

Mr. Tan Cher Hao, Project Director of Young Inventors Challenge since 2023. Volunteer with ASTI since 2015.Graduated with a BSc. In Biotechnology from California State Polytechnic University of Pomona.

Mr. Mohamed Faizal Noor Batcha, having a background in Biotechnology and currently employed under the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation. Being part of YIC since 2015.

Dr. Nur'ain Salehen is lecturer in Biomedical Science at the University of Malaya, with expertise in Infection, Immunity, and Inflammation.

Dr Lee holds a MSc in Molecular Biology and a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Volunteer with ASTI since 2017.

Mr. Karunakaran K.Karthigeyan A veteran in multi-disciplinary design, engineering, project management, construction, supply chain across various industries such as medtech, life sciences, semiconductors, energy, etc.

Dr. Ng Yin Kuan is currently the Head of Department of Entrepreneurship and Supply Chain Management in Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. Dr Ng joined YIC WGC in 2025.

Dr. Nor Azhar Ahmad is a dedicated computer science expert at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah, specializing in software engineering, artificial intelligence, IoT, and environmental automation.

Dr. Nurul Sulaiha binti Sulaiman is a dedicated educator with a PhD in Chemical Engineering and a strong passion for inspiring young minds

Dr. Kumuthini Chandrasekaram is a Registered Chemist and Professional Certified Technologist with a strong passion for research, innovation, and STEM advancement.
